YOUNG MAN DIES DURING DELIVERANCE

Thaba Tseka April 04 — The body of a young man alleged to have died during the casting out of the evil spirits at Senqunyane will be taken for a post mortem next week.

This is according to Superintendent Karabo Morapeli in an interview with the Agency on Tuesday who said the postmortem will be done after Easter.

According to Supt. Morapeli, reports indicate that the 24-year-old man is reported to have died after prophet Thabiso Makhetha from Mantsonyane Ha Ntsokoane whopped him several times on his chest to drive away the evil spirits.

He said it has also been reported that after he had finished the man was seen gasping for air and a few minutes he breathed his last one, adding that it seems he had applied too much force while driving out the evil spirits.

Supt. Morapeli indicated that the suspect is reported to have been called by a certain family in that village to heal their daughter and the deceased went there uninvited to also seek for help.

He said it is reported that when he touched him for the first time the deceased ran and the suspect asked the community to bring him back as he needed help and that is when he whopped him until he had his last breath.

He said the deceased is bruised on the stomach. He said the suspect is in Police custody after surrendering at Mantsonyane this morning after fleeing from Senqunyane for fear of being killed by the angry community after the incident.

Supt. Morapeli said the man is reported to have been practicing as a prophet and had indicated that since it is the first time to have such a case, they have opened the inquiry into the murder case.

He said after having gathered all the required evidence they will take the evidence to the Director of Prosecution who will then determine what charge the suspect should be accused of.

The deceased is Lerafolo Ts’omo who is aged 24.

It is the first time such case is reported in Thaba Tseka.
