Mokhotlong, June 12 — Around fifty community leaders and civil servants from different sectors are currently undergoing a five day workshop aimed at empowering them on child protection and laws to reduce violence against children.
Community leaders include Chiefs, Community Councilors, Village Health Workers, Retired Teachers, Crime Prevention Committees, Youth and others.
Organised by World Vision Lesotho, the workshop which began on Tuesday in the district is part of activities planned to implement a project on Citizen’s Voice Addressing Violence Against Children (CVAVAC), the Project Coordinator Mr. Sello Mahloane said in an interview during the workshop.
He said it is also to help participants to understand social accountability concepts to improve public services and assist them to utilize the model as the social accountability approach to influence improvements on services that the public needs.
