Thaba Tseka Sept — Ha Mokoto community says emergencies force them to engage in negative coping mechanisms that could endanger their lives.
This, they stated during a public session organized by UNFPA through DMA on Tuesday.
According to Mrs. Malimpho Mahase, a shortage of food can force women to resort to sex work to be able to provide food unaware of the risks they put themselves into.
She added that some could even go to the extent of defaulting medication due to lack of food exposing themselves to opportunistic diseases. She also highlighted that that could also trigger Gender Based Violence (GBV) in families for when there is nothing to eat people’s characters and mood swings are affected. . .
