TEYATEYANENG YOUTH CENTER CONDUCT PEER EDUCATION TRAINING

Berea, July 04 — The Department of Youth Berea is conducting a five day peer education on life skills training for at least 35 youths drawn from different schools around Teyateyaneng at Thakaneng Youths Resource Centre.

Speaking to LENA, Teyateyaneng Youth Development Officer, Mr. Libako Mohapi said it has come to their attention that many youths lack confidence when it comes to many aspects of life issues, therefore the primary purpose of the training is to instill the sense of self-awareness amongst them that they are capable of impacting lives.

Mr. Mohapi said as the Department of Youths, they have Lesotho Youth Mentorship Programme (LYMP) of which is basically to build the self-esteem of youths and among the issues it entails the components which includes mindset change, entrepreneurship, life skills and spiritual consciousness.

He further said youths are quite energetic and they need to be nurtured well, therefore the training is also focused more on improving their communication skills, conflicts management, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, time management, stress management, public speaking and facilitation, and how to generate business ideas and turn them into sustainable projects.
