Berea, Mar. 25 — As continuation of World Tuberculosis (TB) day, District Health Management Team (DHMT) embark in Teyateyaneng Correctional Institute to equip prisoners with knowledge about TB as well as giving treatment to those who are affected.
This was mentioned by TB coordinator, Mrs. Masebabatso Letsuoa on Tuesday, where she told the Agency that carrying on World TB day which normally take place on March 24, health organisation will continue screening TB in correctional Institutions throughout the week but on Tuesday and Wednesday they will be giving services in Teyateyaneng Correctional Institute.
Moreover, she said DHMT is offering services such as checking high blood pressure and HIV so that prisoners are aware of their status and also TB screening, highlighting that sputum will be taken for a test in the laboratory, and begin treatment for six months if affected.
She stated that most importantly DHMT teaches them about this pandemic, explaining how it is passed as well as physical signs like coughing, sweating adding that they will be able to notice when it attacks them since they live in a very crowded place.
