Maseru, Mar. 29 — After being given three months to remove their shacks and stalls on the road reserve along the National University of Lesotho (NUL) fence from Ha Scout to Selakheng, the vendors only have one month left now but they still have not secured a new site to relocate to.
During the meeting that was held in January and attended by Roads Directorate, Maseru District Administrator, Council, Contractors and representatives of street vendors in Roma, the Roads Directorate informed the attendees that all shacks and stalls along the road from St. Michael’s to Ha Mafefooane will be removed especially those occupying a 30 metres road reserve radius.
The street vendors have three months ending April 27 to have vacated the area.
However, two months have passed, and the shacks and stalls are still intact and there is no sign of moving even though the construction of the road has started at St. Michael’s. AT/TL
