Maseru, April 04 — Senate Chair of Chairs, Dr. Thabiso Lebese views the current unemployment rate among youth as a matter of urgency needing policy reforms in education.
He said this when talking to motion 40 initiated by Senator Leboea Khoale themed ‘The Plight of Youth in Lesotho’, indicating lasting solutions on unemployment rate amongst this key population are embedded within education reforms.
He explained that if the country is to tackle this issue, underlying factors of the matters must be looked into which is how learners and students up to tertiary levels are groomed hence policy issues.
“Our education system does not shape students to have an entrepreneurial mind-sets, ability to create jobs for themselves instead shape them to become employable instead,” he stressed.
