SENTEBALE TO IDENTIFY HERDBOYS CHALLENGES

Mokhotlong April 04 — Sentebale, charity organisation through its Herdboys Programme will engage with herdboys at Matsoaing in the district from April 16 to 21.

According to Mr. Lebusa Ramone who is the Facilitator for the Herdboys Programme, the intention is to meet with the herdboys and identify general challenges as they tend livestock.

Mr. Ramone said herdboys spend most of the time tending livestock in remotest places of the country adding that challenges they face on the environment they live at will also be picked.

He pointed out that after engaging with them, the following session will be that of stakeholders who will include Chiefs, livestock owners, parents and service providers to mention a few.

He explained that the stakeholders will be requested to rise to the challenges the herdboys will have presented so as to improve their (herdboys) lives.

Mr. Ramone further said herdboys will be linked with service providers so that they can be provided with the services they need for promotion of their lives.

Sentebale was founded by Prince Harry of the United Kingdom and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006 as a response to the needs of children and young people in Lesotho.

The name Sentebale means “Forget me not” in English language and said to be representing a pledge to remember the most vulnerable children and marginalised groups such as herdboys in the country.

It was chosen as a memorial to the charity work their (Harry and Seeiso) mothers were engaged in to help vulnerable children.
