SENATE PROPOSES ESTABLISHMENT OF INTER-AGENCY COMMISION ON LAND

Maseru, May 21 — The House of Senate has urged the Government to establish an Inter-Agency on Land, this proposal has been made during today’s sitting. 

Reading the motion, Senator Seabata Motsamai indicated that the purpose of the Inter-Agency Commission on Land shall be to harmonise all land legal instruments as well as to enhance land use planning in both urban and rural areas. 

He went on to say this shall also zone land into proper categories, agriculture, business, residential, industrial, recreational and others, and to establish a National Use Development Master Plan which shall be gazetted. 

Senator Motsamai  said the existing Land Acts are not functional and have a lot of loopholes that give those in power an opportunity to do whatever that they want.
