SCHOLARS SHARE EXPECTATION FROM THE 2025\26 BUDGET PRESENTATION

Maseru, Feb.18 — With just a few hours left into the presentation of the 2025/2026 budget by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane, some part of the scholars from different tertiary institutions have shared their views on this years presentation.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency, Mr. Pitso Sekhesa who is doing his Bachelor of Finance with the Botho University applauded the government for the presentation saying that the budget speech is an important event in which the government presents its financial plans for the upcoming year as it highlights revenue sources, expenditures and economic policies.

He indicated that the budget speech outlines government plans for economic growth, inflation control, and financial stability and It helps businesses and investors make informed decisions therefore when presented to the public it becomes an educative event.

He added that it highlights funding for healthcare, education, infrastructure and social programs, shaping national development adding that in terms of International & Market Reactions, the budget presentations enable Investors, credit agencies and foreign governments to assess the budget to determine economic stability, which impacts currency value, stock markets and foreign investments. . .
