RESETTLEMENT ISSUES FURTHER DISCUSSED AT MASAKONG

Mokhotlong, Jan. 23 — A public gathering on which issues related to resettlement of people to be affected by the Polihali dam was further discussed took place at Masakong in the district on Thursday.

The gathering was held following a request through a letter written to the District Administrator’s (DA) office by members of the Masakong village who needed Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA), Seate Community Council and LIMA Thaha Rural Development Foundation, being the Consultants engaged by the Authority to provide resettlement planning and services on Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) phase II to discuss resettlement services so as to enhance the understanding of those who are going to be relocated.

At the event, most residents wanted to be given their money for resettling and building houses of their choice without LHDA supervision on the construction work of the houses they will be building.

“We want all the money and LHDA should not control us on how we should use our money,” they said.
