Qacha’s Nek, Dec. 04 — Her Majesty Queen ’Masenate Mohato Seeiso has called on Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development, Pitso Lesaoana, to expedite the activation of the Disability Advisory Council, a crucial body mandated to improve the lives of persons with disabilities in Lesotho.
Speaking at the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Qacha’s Nek on Wednesday, Queen ’Masenate emphasized that operationalizing the council will bring tangible change, enabling people with disabilities to live fulfilling lives within their own country.
The event, themed ‘Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future’, began with a vibrant fun walk led by the LMPS brass band, setting a hopeful tone for the discussions ahead.
The Disability Advisory Council, established in July 2023 and formalized under Legal Notice No. 79 of 2023, has faced significant delays in commencing its work.
