Qacha’s Nek, Feb. 20 — The unveiling of the M32.7 billion budget for the 2025/26 financial year has sparked mixed reactions among residents of Qacha’s Nek.
The budget marks a 6.7 percent increase from the previous financial year and includes significant infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity, energy security, and trade.
Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane, announced that the Roads Directorate will expedite the completion of major ongoing projects while finalizing feasibility studies and designs for a road linking Mokhotlong, Thaba-Tseka, and Qacha’s Nek.
Additionally, the long-anticipated Tebellong Bridge over the Senqu River is set for construction.

The government, with funding from the World Bank, is implementing the Integrated Transport, Trade, and Logistics Project to boost regional connectivity and reduce trade costs.
