PUBLIC DESPISE INHERITANCE BILL

Maseru, Mar. 25 — The recent tabling of the Administration of Estates and Inheritance Bill, 2024 by the Ministry of Law and Justice has sparked significant public outcry, with various groups expressing strong opposition to its adoption.

Representatives from unions, associations, and organizations have united in voicing their concerns, asserting that the proposed Bill directly challenges fundamental cultural norms and fails to align with the best interests of Basotho society.

Mrs. Mathato Sekoai, Registrar of the High Court, highlighted glaring discrepancies within the Bill, highlighting that her office was not consulted during its formation, raising questions about its coherence and efficacy.
