Maseru, Mar. 31 — Following their resignation from their established charity organization, Sentebale last Tuesday, Princes’ Harry and Seeiso say they had resigned as patrons until further notice to support several trustees who have done the same.
Princes’ Harry and Seeiso and several trustees announced their shocking departure from Sentebale amid conflict with the chair of the board, Dr. Sophie Chandauka.
They said this in their joint statement where they said nearly 20 years ago, they founded Sentebale in honour of their mothers saying Sentebale means ‘forget me not’ and it is what they have always promised for the young people they have served through this charity. They said today is no different.
“With heavy hearts, we have resigned from our roles as Patrons of the organization until further notice, in support of and solidarity with the board of trustees who have had to do the same. It is devastating that the relationship between the charity’s trustees and the chair of the board broke down beyond repair, creating an untenable situation,” they said. AT/TL
