Quthing, Feb. 19 — Representatives of Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) from five (5) police stations of the district have been conscientized on Copyright Order of 1989 and the introduced Broadcasting, Communication to the Public and public performance Tariffs No. 114 of 2024, and licencing.
The sensitisation was carried out at a meeting organised by Lesotho Copyright Society of Authors (LECOSAA)with the aim to strengthen law enforcement and compliance.
Speaking at the same event, the LECOSAA Legal and Licencing manager Mr. Advocate Marai Moeti stated LECOSSA is a multipurpose and membership based collective management organisation (MMO) established under of Section 31 of the Copyright Order OF 1998,
He said it was operationalised in 2021 with the support of the Department of Culture, adding that the Order prescribes the Society’s mandate includes collecting and distributing royalties accruing from various uses of its members’ rights.
