POLICE DISPERSE BUSINESS COMMUNITY MARCH

Maseru, May 22 — In what was supposed to be a day for peaceful procession of different Basotho business communities to deliver their petition to the Prime Minister, Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane failed as heavy armed men in blue dispersed them.

The petition was made as a plea to the Prime Minister and his government to  implement Business Licensing and Registration Regulations 2020 passed by parliament three years ago. The Regulations emanate from the Business Licensing and Registration Act 2019.

They want the government to operationalise business licensing regulations which disqualify foreigners from operating in areas that are legally reserved for Basotho.

Speaking in an interview one of Mohahlaula Street vendors Association Mrs. ‘Maremi ‘Mabathoana confirmed that the police arrived as they were about to leave near Setsoto Stadium which was their procession starting point and dispersed them.
