POLICE CONDUCTS INVESTIGATIONS AGAINST A FRAUDSTER

Mohale’s Hoek, Mar. 28 — Assistant Commissioner of Police ‘Mats’epo Soko says investigations are ongoing following an incident in which an unknown man is reported to have called some principals in the district disguised as an officer from the Ministry of Education and Training.

In an interview with the Agency Mohale’s Hoek English Medium High School Principal, Ms. Lekiba Morahanye confirmed to receiving a call from a man who introduced himself as Ts’epang Setona demanding a list of learners who have performed well in the LGCSE examinations, promising to award them scholarships to study abroad.

Ms. Morahanye indicated that the issue did not sit well with her, as the expectation is for such information to at least come from the District Education Manager, noting she then informed her colleagues, with St. Stephens principal admitting to have received a similar call.

Ms. Morahanye articulated that Setona wanted learners and parents mobile phone numbers but she declined giving them out, as she picked that the latter was becoming edgy as she continued asking him some questions during their conversation. MM/TL
