PARENTS STRUGGLE TO TALK ABOUT SRHR WITH TEENS

Qacha’s Nek, Oct. 07 — In Ha Mohlapiso, a silent crisis looms as parents grapple with the challenge of discussing Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues with their children.

The generational divide feels insurmountable, leaving many families feeling helpless.

The Agency learned this on Monday during the District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) mobilization of community leaders, including chiefs, councillors, village health workers and the community policing committee.

They discussed the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)’s six months’ humanitarian project launched this month, titled ‘Provision of Life-Saving SRH and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Services,’ in response to the state of emergency declared by Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane in July 12, 2024 due to El Niño-induced drought, which has resulted in food insecurity.
