OVER M500,000 SPENT ON MPILO REVAMP 

Maseru, Feb.20 — An estimated amount of over M500,000 was used to revamp Mpilo Boulevard, the Deputy Prime Minister Justice Nthomeng Majara has said.

This, she disclosed when responding to a question of a Member of Parliament Mrs Mabafokeng Mpobole, regarding the amount of money that had been used to pave the medians on Mpilo Boulevard with paving bricks, amount of money incurred to remove the paving bricks, whether the paving was removed for any adverse qualities it had and if so which.

Mrs. Mpobole also asked the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, plan with the removed paving bricks and the areas where they are stored, the amount of money used to plant flowers, shrubs or trees on the medians as well as the person or company responsible for the care and upkeep of the plants.

Justice Majara said an estimated amount of M72,000 was used to remove paving bricks at the Mpilo Boulevard and the money was mostly used towards payment of allowances of 30 temporary labourers engaged for a period of two months and were paid M1,200 each while the machinery used belonged to Maseru City Council (MCC). . .
