OVER 1000 TO GET  FOOD ASSISTANCE 

Quthing, Nov. 06 — Over 1000 households from five electoral divisions in Telle Community will receive food assistance for three months as part of a five months  Emergency Food Assistance Project implemented by World Vision Lesotho.

The project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) started this month in response to the Prime Minister ‘s declaration of a state food insecurity emergency following the 2023-24 Lesotho Vulnerability Assessment Committee (LVAC) report.

Briefing members of the District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) about the project during their meeting held at the District Disaster Management Office, the Project Coordinator Mr. Tleketle Tlali said the project will be implemented in two phases namely emergency response and recovery.

He highlighted that during this phase, beneficiaries will each receive M1 007  for three month starting from this month while the second phase will be for recovery activities in which beneficiaries will be supported with among others seeds and seeds and training on food production.
