Maseru, Feb. 12 — Patients and citizens of Lesotho are reeling from the news of a significant hike in medical fees at the Mamohato Memorial Hospital, effective February 6th.
According to sources close to the matter, the increase has been substantial, leaving many to express shock and disappointment.
The new fees have seen a doubling of the registration cost, from R15 to R30, while other services, including the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan, have also been affected. The MRI scan, which was previously priced at a more affordable rate, now costs a staggering R1000, a price that many citizens feel is exorbitant and unaffordable.
The sudden and steep increase in medical fees has sparked widespread concern among patients, who are worried about the implications for their health and financial well-being. Many have taken to social media and other platforms to express their discontent, with some voicing fears about the future of healthcare in Lesotho.
