OLD AGE PENSIONERS TO RECEIVE MONEY – LESAOANA

Maseru, March 19 — The Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development, Mr. Pitso Lesaoana assured elderly people who did not receive their pension due to recent rainy weather conditions that they will be paid before the end of this month.

He made an assurance on Wednesday when responding to the urgent question asked by Hloahloeng Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Katleho Mabeleng in the National Assembly, regarding old age pensioners who were unable to access the pay point at Poriking in Qabane on Tuesday (yesterday) due to over flooding rivers and if so, can the Minister disclose the measures he intends to take to ensure that the pensioners are paid since this is the last payment in this financial year.

Mr. Lesaoana said he received a report that vehicles who went to Poriking to pay pensioners had to return due to over flooding rivers, saying an arrangement has been made to ensure they are paid on Wednesday (today) at Ha Khamakhamane Council.

“I am aware that payments were also not made in other areas due to weather conditions hence will ensure pensioners are paid before the end of this month,” he said. RL/TL
