NUL, UNDP, UFS, BOTHO UNIVERSITY IN BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION CONFERENCE

Maseru, Sept. 30 — Academic Forum for Development of Lesotho has marked the 200 years of Basotho nation building with institutions of higher learning in Lesotho and Free State in a conference whose theme reads ‘Advancing Epistemic Diversity and Pluralism for Sustainable Development’.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Lesotho (NUL), Professor Olusola Fajana said the conference is a special celebration for the kingdom of Lesotho, noting that 200 years is a significant period for nation building.

He remarked that it is also significant that indigenous knowledge systems are talked about during this important time, adding that it is time to have throwbacks on achievements, and challenges as a nation so that solutions to economic and social development challenges can be found.

He said Basotho have, over the years, used traditional knowledge to produce food and solve their own problems.
