Maseru, Feb.14 — The 6th meeting of the first session of the 11th Parliament of Lesotho was officially re-opened on Valentine’s day after Christmas holidays by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane.
When welcoming Members of Parliament (MPs), Mr. Sekhamane thanked God for protecting MPs until the re-opening of the National Assembly to fulfill the mandate of the nation.
He expressed hope that members had time to rest and ready to serve the nation although he knows they did not have time to rest in their respective constituencies as they had to participate in community work such as to visit the sick and elderly people as well as burying the dead amongst others.
He urged them to consider themselves lucky for being granted an opportunity to serve Basotho as that will be written in the history of Lesotho which will narrate their participation in making laws, allocating and monitoring public finances as well as representing their communities in Parliament.
