Quthing, March 06 — The national event to celebrate Africa Day of School Feeding (ADSF) will be held at Bolula primary school, Ha Mohlakoana in Mount Moorosi constituency on Thursday next week.
In an interview with the Agency, Senior Nutrition Officer from School Self Reliance Feeding Unit (SSRFU) division in district department of education and training, Mrs. ‘Matumelo Liname said the celebration on the theme, ‘A decade of Nourishment: Celebrating the past, securing a just Future’ is intended to promote importance of providing at least one nutritious meal for every school going child in the country, consuming locally produced food commodities hence promoting home grown school feeding (HGSF).
Mrs. Liname highlighted that the day will be held at Ha Mohlakoana, where World Food Programme (WFP) has piloted HGSF programme in which Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) centres from the area are provided with locally produced food commodities that include maize meal, milk, vegetables, eggs and fruits for daily meal of every child.
She said the event will be dignified with among other activities, a procession from Maqokho junction in the area to Bolula primary school, speeches, tour of agricultural products exhibited at the school premises and entertainment by pupils from five primary schools and children from three ECCD centres in the area.
