MOTETE GIRLS HESITATE TO REPORT MENSTRUATION

Botha-Bothe, May 29 — Teachers at Motete LECSA High School and Primary School express concern over girls’ reluctance to inform them about menstruation and their need for sanitary towels.

Mr. Shasha Shasha addressed this issue during the Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration in Motete yesterday. He noted that girls who have begun menstruating often feel uncomfortable and fail to report it to teachers, even when they have stained their clothes with blood during school hours.

Mr. Shasha observed that sometimes, without explicitly mentioning their periods, teachers can discern it from the girls’ behaviour. He emphasized the importance of supporting girls during this natural phase, acknowledging that mood swings and discomfort are not within their control. . .
