MOKHOTLONG MARKS NATIONAL TREE PLANTING DAY

Mokhotlong March 21 — At least 1,400 indigenous and exotic forest trees were planted at Mokhotlong LECSA Primary School to mark National Tree Planting Day tree on Friday.

The Acting District Forestry Officer Mr. Motumi Motebang District said the theme for this year’s activity is Forests and Food, which creates awareness on the important role Forests play in food security, nutrition and livelihoods.

He said the Ministry of Environment and Forestry urges every person to plant at least five trees in their yards for wood, fruits and other benefits as well as to protect the environment and address climate change related effects.

Mr. Motebang said Basotho should continue the practice on farm forestry to ensure environment protection all the time.

He thanked Standard/Lesotho Bank for a continued partnership with the Ministry on tree planting activity now and over the past several years adding that the support is indeed remarkable. . . .
