Maseru, July 20 — Waste is collected in indifferent ways, so is the amount of money charged for such service.
This was said by Maseru Municipal Council (MMC) Public Relations Manager, Mrs. Makatleho Mosala in an interview with the Agency, following a list of refuse service fees for Motimposo business community including households which is trending on social media.
Mrs. Mosala said she is aware of the list although it is not from MMC because the latter encourage waste collection through community contracting which she described as a process whereby the community itself hires people to collect waste or hire a contractor who will collect the waste and agree on the amount of money that will be charged for such service.
She also indicated that MMC encouraged community contracting because it could not be able to collect waste in communities due to limited resources, staff and lack of inroads.
