MIXED REACTIONS FROM QACHA’S NEK ARTISANS OVER NEW MASERU CRAFTS CENTRE

Qacha’s Nek, Aug. 22 — Crafts people from Qacha’s Nek have shared their mixed feelings about the opportunity to showcase their work at the newly reconstructed Maseru Tourist Information and Crafts Centre (MTICC).

While some see it as a chance to expand their market reach, others are concerned about the costs involved.

The MTICC, located in the heart of Maseru’s central business district, is designed to stimulate economic development by supporting the arts and crafts industry.

Funded by the World Bank through the Private Sector Competitiveness and Economic Diversification Project (PSCEDP), the center will take a 10 percent commission on sales made there.
