MISA TRIES AGAIN

Maseru, Apr. 19 — Following its failure to hold the Annual General Meeting, the Media Institute of Southern African has once again called members to attend an extraordinary general meeting starting April 26.

The three-day meeting will be held in Mokhotlong according to a letter issued by MISA Lesotho National Governing Council (NGC) through Mr. Palo Mohlotsane, Secretary General.

This letter states that the upcoming AGM will be held in line with Article 5.7 of the MISA-Lesotho constitution, to an extraordinary meeting, noting issues to be discussed include the Chairperson’s address, Secretary General’s report and the Treasurer’s report among others.

All paid up members have been urged to partake in the coming AGM for success, growth and development of MISA Lesotho.

Meanwhile, according to this letter, the previous AGM did not materialise due to insufficient number of members reaching the quorum requirement.

This meeting comes after members through different communication platforms shared their concerns, stipulating that the newly appointed NGC is ignorant and irresponsible after failing to show up at the AGM scheduled for March 31.

In another story, the Agency has further established that as part of the AGM, MISA members will also tour the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) has also organised a day long tour of the Polihali Dam project in Mokhotlong, exclusively to the members of MISA.

The Lesotho chapter of MISA is part of the regional family aimed at defending and promoting media freedom, freedom of expression and access to information in Lesotho.
