Maseru, Mar. 17 — The National Assembly has on Monday resolved to reduce international trips for Ministries and Departments in their budgets by at least 50 percent.
This after Matala Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Ts’eliso Moroke moved the motion that in the annual budget and estimates of revenue and expenditure for 2025/26 report under 5.1 recommendations, after the full stop, the reduction of International trips should be directed into youth employment programs, including but not limited to job creation, internships, vocational training mentorship programs and entrepreneurship support.
Dr. Moroke indicated that it came to the portfolio committees realization that the rate of international trips in some Ministries is too high, saying it is high time civil servants compromise as some trips are not beneficial.
” It was revealed during the meetings that some trips were taken just to study how towns are cleaned” he added. . . .
