Maseru, Mar. 29 — The Minister of Information, Communications, Science and Innovation Ms. Nthati Moorosi says technology has the transformative power to connect, open doors and drive progress.
Speaking at the annual Gala Dinner hosted by the Law Society of Lesotho, she stated that technology can however be exploited and abused. She indicated that although the digital world has opened new doors, it has also introduced new risks especially in the realm of cyber security.
She emphasized that the threats of cyber criminals can no longer be ignored as it affects not only professions and assets, but also personal lives, families and children.
”Take for example, the rise of cyber bullying, which devastates the lives of many young people globally. In this digital age, emotional and psychological harm can be inflicted without ever crossing paths physically,” she said. She pointed out that the anonymity of the internet allows abusers to operate in shadows, leaving their victims isolated and powerless. SM/TL
