Maseru, Aug. 21 — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane has tabled over 10 Subordinate Laws before the House of the Senate during its sitting on Wednesday.
These laws include amongst others, Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Regulations 2024, Financial Consumer Protection (Marketing and Advertisement) Regulations 2024. Financial Institutions (Credit Only and Deposit Taking Microfinance Institutions) Amendment Regulations, 2024. Central Bank of Lesotho (Collective Investments Schemes) (Amendment), 2024.
The Minister said these laws are set to protect consumers, stabilize trading markets and promote confidence in financial markets by limiting exposures and risks that certain key financial players can undertake.
The Vice President, Mr. Tsukutlane Au acknowledged the tabling of the laws made by the minister, and indicated that they will be dealt with by the appropriate committee.
