Maseru, March. 14 — The Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition has officially announced African armyworm outbreak (seboko sa lebotho) on Friday.
Mr. Thabo Mofosi made the official announcement through the National Television, where he indicated the outbreak started on Thursday, March 06, 2025.

The most affected areas as according to the Minister include Mohale’s Hoek and parts of Mafeteng.
He said research is being undertaken as there are signs of the outbreak. He noted this type of the worm is mainly dominated with black colour and two green colours, saying it was last seen in 2012-2013.

Mr. Mofosi mentioned that the Ministry has already used pesticides to address the matter, saying affected places that is fields and rangelands should be reserved for 14 days before re-use.
