Maseru, Aug. 05 — Correctional Officer Moteki Mohale, who is implicated once again in the assault of inmates, says military detainees have conspired to tarnish his name before the Commission.
This, he said when cross examining one of the military detainees Mr. Mohlalefi Seitlheko before the Commission Of Inquiry on the escape of inmates after Seitlheko indicated in his testimony that Mohale was amongst Lesotho Correctional Service Recruits who assaulted him during the search exercise that was conducted at Maseru Central Correctional Institution (MCCI) on December 22 last year
Correctional Officer Mohale said he believes the military detainees conspired to implicate him before the Commission so that their issues could be clear and heard by the Commission.
He further insisted that he did not search nor met Mr. Seitlheko during the search exercise.
On the other hand, Mr. Seitlheko insisted that there was no point in time he sat with anyone and planned to implicate Mohale falsely.
He also indicated that Mohale was amongst officers who bent him against the wall inside the cell while others assaulted him.
Meanwhile Correctional Officer Mohale was earlier implicated by one of the military detainees, Mr. Liphapang Sefako who told the Commission in his testimony that Mohale assaulted him with a Knobkerrie during the above mentioned search exercise.
Other Officers who were implicated by Mr. Seitlheko during his testimony also cross examined him and most of them denied assaulting him while others claimed he does not know them.
