MICSTI, UN DISCUSS DIGITAL GOVERNMENT

Mohale’s Hoek, June 18 — As response to Sustainable Development Goal 17 which focuses on Strengthening the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation is in a three-day ongoing UN Joint programme on Improved Governance for optimized service delivery in Lesotho held in Mohale’s Hoek.

With focus on improved technology platforms, the workshop will discuss amongst others agreed workplace on digital government.

It will also focus on ICT overlapping factors that are put in place to ease service delivery.Speaking at the workshop MICST Principal Secretary (PS) Mr. Leronti Ramashamole said the component of Digital Population shows that Basotho are capable of using technology.

“People just need to explore using technology to obtain government services,” he elaborated.

He mentioned that the digital hub and computer laboratories which will be placed in the districts and in schools will ensure that no one is left behind.

The workshop is attended by ICT officers from different ministries.
