‘MAMOHOLI TEACHERS CRY FOUL ON UNFAIR TREATMENT

Maseru, Mar. 12 — Teachers from Mamoholi primary school, found in Makhaleng, Maseru district are not getting hardship allowance paid by the Teaching Service Department without any explanation, while their colleagues from other rural schools get the allowance.

According to one of the teachers at the school, Mrs. Makabelo Moteletsane teachers at Mamoholi Primary School had submitted a request to the Private Secretary at TSD, to Human Resource administration of education and to District Education office and their request have been approved but during the financial year budget they then realised that their request has not been approved, adding that they had reported the grievance to Makhaleng parliamentarian, Mr. Mootsi Lehata who promised to assist them but until now they did not get any feedback.

She said teachers at the local school have always been dedicated to their students, despite the challenges of teaching in a remote area, they have persevered knowing that their work makes a difference in the lives of students.

Mrs. Moteletsane stated that they are left feeling confused and frustrated as they have faced the same hardships and challenges as their colleagues in other rural schools. TM/TL
