Botha-Bothe, Feb. 24 – After a severe windstorm blew off the roof of Malofo Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) School while children were present, Member of Parliament for Qalo No. 4, Mr. Dada Jooma, stepped in to fund and oversee its re-roofing. He officially handed the renovated school back to the community and its learners.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Jooma explained that upon hearing about the incident, he visited the site and contacted the Minister of Education. However, he was informed that the Ministry could not assist as the school was not registered under its jurisdiction.
“I then realized that it was my responsibility to ensure this project was completed. I was given a quotation of approximately M50,000, which I had to raise, even contributing from my own pocket, to ensure that the children have a proper learning facility. This is the only ECCD school in the area, and it was important to restore it,” he said…
