Maseru, April 01 — The Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) has introduced the tourism levy with effect from today (Monday) at Sani Pass Gate in the Mokhotlong district.
Acting LTDC Public Relations Manager Mr. Molapo Matela told the Agency that effective from Monday, all visitors with foreign passports shall pay an entrance fee and Tourism Levy of M100 upon entering the Sani Pass Gate.
“We have realised that there are many tourists from Underberg in KwaZulu/Natal who are using the Sani Pass Gate to enter Lesotho but pay nothing,” he commented.
Mr. Matela said the Tourism Levy will be collected by Events Organisers, Accommodation Owners as well as Tour Operators on behalf of the LTDC.
