Maseru, Feb. 19 — In a move aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Lesotho’s recent budget proposal demonstrates a firm commitment to inclusive growth, with a particular focus on supporting vulnerable populations.
Addressing the National Assembly, Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane, emphasized that despite facing considerable global economic uncertainty, the government’s budget priorities are firmly rooted in the principle of leaving no one behind.
“Our budget proposal has been channeled towards the promotion of inclusive growth, ensuring that all citizens benefit from our nation’s progress.
“We are committed to answering the universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030, all people enjoy peace and prosperity,” she said.
A concrete demonstration of this commitment is the proposed increase in social safety nets.
