LESOTHO TO LOBBY FOR AGOA

Maseru, Apr. 02 — The Mission from Lesotho will leave for the United States (US) on May 12 to lobby for extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) contract.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Small Business Mr. Mokhethi Shelile in the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Mr. Shelile said they had heard that Lesotho has support for extension from the US Parliamentarians, and that they need feedback as soon as possible since the contract expires in September this year.

“We have approximately 120 days turnaround of exporting textile products to America” he added, saying 12,000 jobs of Basotho are on the line if the AGOA contract is not renewed…
