Maseru, Nov.22 — The Ministry of Energy in collaboration with the Petroleum Fund Lesotho is currently hosting a two day Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Interstate Oil Committee Meeting (IOC) in Maseru.
The meeting which will run from Wednesday to Thursday this week is aimed at discussing Oil Industry issues among member states including Botswana, South Africa, eSwatini and Namibia.
This event is a bi-annual event which is held on a rotational basis providing the platform for maintaining regular contact amongst members regarding all aspects of the acquisition, storage, supply, distribution and related issues of petroleum products in the Customs Union Area.
In his opening remarks, Minister of Energy Professor Nqosa Mahao said the meeting is intended to give feedback on issues discussed during the last meeting which was in Botswana as well as new developments within the member states.
He said prices of petroleum products are increasing month after month therefore this meeting will help explore ways of addressing this challenge. . .
