Qacha’sNek, Feb. 18 – The Lesotho Copyright Society of Authors and Artists (LESCOSAA) engaged with police representatives from all six posts in Qacha’s Nek on Wednesday, aiming to strengthen copyright enforcement and compliance.
The meeting focused on LESCOSAA’s mandate, the Copyright Order of 1989, the newly introduced Broadcasting, Communication to the Public, and Public Performance Tariffs No. 114 of 2024, as well as copyright licensing.
Advocate Moeti Marai, LESCOSAA’s Legal and Licensing Manager, emphasized the role of the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) in enforcing copyright laws and ensuring that creatives earn royalties.
“The government cannot employ everyone, but by protecting intellectual property, we help artists sustain themselves and create jobs,” Marai stated. . .
