LAA URGES TIMELY GROUND RENT PAYMENTS AS FINANCIAL YEAR CLOSES

Maseru, Mar. 26 — As the financial year draws to a close on March 31, Land Administration Authority (LAA) is calling on leaseholders to prioritize their ground rent payments, emphasizing the crucial role these funds play in serving the Basotho community.

In an interview with the Agency on Wednesday, customer service representatives, Ms. Pheello Mochaba and Ms. Marorisang Ts’oeute, made a passionate appeal to the public in an effort to ensure timely compliance.

Ground rent, an annual fee paid by leaseholders for the use and occupation of land, is particularly relevant to those holding commercial sites and second residential plots, with primary residential site leaseholders exempt from this requirement.

The collection of these fees is not just a matter of administrative diligence; it is a fundamental revenue stream for the LAA, enabling the organization to procure necessary resources and services for the benefit of the nation.
