Maseru, Apr.08—-Despite the heavy rains showering across the country, the National University of Lesotho (NUL) students are chanting and singing liberation songs as they embark on their strike.
The strike started in the morning on Monday and students who were still in classes were forced to vacate while the main gate to the school has been blocked as well as the main road near the campus gate where motorists are requested to pay at least M10 before proceeding with their trips.
In an interview, NUL Students Representative Council (SRC) Minister of Education and Student Affairs Moeketsi Rapuleng said that they had no choice but to boycott classes as both undergraduate and postgraduate students until all students get their student cards.
He said that they also need clarification from the government relating to stop order payments made from postgraduate students’ monthly stipends which he said is not practical and causes the revocable harm to the concerned students.
