INITIATION PRACTICES AIMED TO BE DONE BETTER

Maseru,March.26–Men and women participating in initiation practices across the country are on a two day capacity building workshop which is facilitated by the Moshoeshoe cultural festival association.

This initiative comes after the initiation practices across the country faced a number of challenges which included their ban in some parts across the country. In his official launch, the Principal Chief of Koeneng Chief Peete Lesaoana  Peete said  the initiation practices have in the longest time been handled with defaults which he said such platforms should be used for reflection and growth on how the initiation practices can  be handled for the benefit of the nation.

He stated that initially, initiation schools should be put in proper ethics that can be used to instill in Basotho children the love of their culture. Chief Lesaoana however urged the initiation practitioners to handle the practices properly as to avoid the repetition of the wrongful acts that the initiation practices are currently faced with…
