Maseru, Sept. 20 — Human trafficking is both a grave crime and human rights abuse compromises national and economic security, undermines the rule of law and harms the well being of communities across the globe.
This emerged in an interview with the Coordinator of the Cross Border Crime Prevention Forum Mr. Litaba Mohapi while revealing that the forum will hold a meeting scheduled for Friday at the Setsoto Municipality in Ficksburg.
In this interview, Mr. Mohapi showed that this meeting which will be a joint event between part of the Free State Members of the Forum and that of Lesotho is aimed at raising awareness on issues involving human trafficking between the borders of South Africa and Lesotho.
He stated that human trafficking allows traffickers to profit at the expense of their victims by compelling them to perform labour as unpaid or engage in commercial sex.
