FIRST SESSION OF COURT TO START

Maseru, Mar. 29 — The first session of the Court of Appeal of Lesotho is scheduled to commence on April 07, 2025.

According to a roll issued by the office of the Registrar of the Court of Appeal, at least 48 cases comprising both civil and criminal, have been registered for hearing starting from the first day of the session until April 22, 2025 when the hearing will come to an end, giving the court time to prepare the judgments.

Among the cases which made it to the first session of the Court of Appeal and is in the public eye is one involving the Leader of the Basotho Action Party (BAP) Professor Nqosa Mahao and the party’s Deputy Leader Mr. Motlatsi Maqelepo.

The opening of the first session of the Court of Appeal which happens on the first day is often characterised by a roll call in which legal practitioners and litigants appearing in person, whose matters are enrolled for hearing, attend. The President of the Court of Appeal also presents an opening statement at this occasion. SM/TL
