Leribe, Apr. 16 — Farmers Field Schools (FFS) which were monitored last month by the Department of Agriculture Research under the Ministry of Agriculture, Nutrition and Food Security are this week harvesting sweet potatoes.
The harvesting commenced on Monday and ends today at Taung. The schools engaged in harvesting are Boiphihlelo, Nthoe-ntle Mantsoana and Matlakeng Field schools found at Matlakeng and Nkoeng in the same district of Leribe.
The FFS are established under the support of Agriculture Productivity Program of Southern Africa (APPSA) for Lesotho Project.
In an interview with the Agency Senior Research Officer Extension, Ms. Mokhants’o Morahanye said the harvesting is done after five months of planting, where the sweet potatoes are ripe. KC/TL
